Why can't I just stage my own home?

Home sellers are usually incapable of staging their own homes because like a child or pet they have a hard time seeing the flaws. Typically, they have gotten used to their surroundings and feel comfortable with their past decorating decisions. It is emotionally hard to change and they can not view their homes objectively. In addition, they do not stage homes everyday so they are not aware of what works and what does not. That is what we are here for...let an experienced professional tackle this job for you!

What is the difference between interior decorating and staging a home?

Interior decorators design for the personal tastes and personality of the homeowner. This is great when you are not selling your home. Home Stagers focus on appealing to a non-specific style with the broadest range of appeal. We depersonalize and make recommendations for room changes using as many of the current homeowners existing items as possible. Then we add or remove accessories to help create the "emotional connection" a buyer needs to make the big decision to buy your home. Stagers put on "buyers eyes" and make the most of what each home has to offer while steering attention away from any possible negatives. Small changes make a big difference. Home Staging makes financial sense by helping your home sell quicker and for more money.

Won't buyers use their imagination and look past my decor?

You know the expression "You only get one chance to make a first impression"  This could not be truer when it comes to home buyers.  They make an unconscious opinion of your home within 15 seconds of entering it. Those impressions will either cause them to intuitively be positive or steer them to start feeling that this is not a place they can visualize themselves living in.  Even if people do not actually live an uncluttered, well presented life, they like to think and feel that they could be that way.  We have to paint the picture for them as a very small percentage of people have the ability to recreate a proper space in their minds. Another famous expression " A picture is worth a thousand words". This is why new home builders always provide a model home to view...marketing is everything and it works!  Would you rather look at a vacant house with no personality or something more interesting? Try to put yourself in the buyers shoes.
